Hi! I'm a twentysomething English shut-in who is into poetry, literature, cooking, baking, language learning, conlanging, and watching films and anime. I'm especially fond of the poetry of Emily Brontë, William Blake, John Clare, Theognis of Megara, and Homer, and I enjoy a wide variety of prose literature too, with my particular favourites including Jane Austen and the Brontë sisters (all three!). My favourite book is the Iliad, which I read every year, alongside the Odyssey. Other favourites include Khun Chang Khun Phaen, Lilit Phra Lo, House of Leaves, Lolita, and Moby Dick.
I am an avid language dabbler, having learned bits and pieces of Spanish, Latin, Ancient Greek, Thai, and a tiny bit of Sumerian, and I enjoy reading about linguistics in my spare time—I am especially fond of phonology and comparative historical linguistics—the intersection of historical linguistics with (pre-)history is especially interesting to me.
I am also a keen conlanger, that is, someone constructs their own languages, something I've been doing for a number of years now. I am interested in the 'textures' of different languages—their phonetic qualities, their stylistic devices, and colexification. Almost all my conlangs are just little grammar sketches or brief vocabulary lists, and I have no intention of ever truly learning one—they are a sort of art, to be enjoyed in of themselves.
I started this website primarily as a repository for my creative writing ventures, including my personal poetry and all things related to my personal fantasy setting, at the moment known as Nin, as well as an opportunity to learn HTML and CSS. Also included are any miscellaneous things I feel like sharing, such as recipes, random thoughts, and conlanging exercises.
